Maths Trail - The boys and girls were joined by pupils from Ms Breen's 5th and 6th class for their shape trail. A big thank you to our senior buddies who were a great help showing the boys and girls were they could find lots of different shapes around the school. Senior Infant: Number Line Towers Games: Snakes and Ladders
The boys and girls looked great in their jerseys and had lots of fun sharing with the class what they were wearing and which team they supported.
We've had a fantastic week of daily athletics activities with Joan and Johnnie from Athletics Ireland. Each day the children worked on different skills from sprints to jumping the throwing. Dodgeball for the final session was great fun!
We began our "Reading Buddies" and "Conversation Stations" with the boys and girls from Mrs. Light's class this week.
After reading the Autumn story "Don't Hog the Hedge" all about animals preparing to hibernate for the winter we decided to shape hedgehogs from clay. We decorated them with googly eyes and colourful matchsticks for the spikes.
As part of our S.P.H.E lesson we brought home a paper bag to fill with three items. Each pupil in the class then presented their "All About Me" bag to their friends and showed them the three items which represent them in some way. We saw lots of teddies, toys and family photos to name but a few. This was such a fun way for the class to get to know their friends a little more.
The boys and girls were delighted to receive their hi vis vests from the RSA. We decided to try them out on our nature walk around our school. By far the highlight was visiting the hens and checking if we had any new eggs!
During our first week back in school we've been exploring different colours and bringing in items from home for the colour table. On red day the senior infant boys and girls were invited to taste a big juicy tomato that one of their friends brought in! Each day we've painted a new colour stripe on our hot air balloons, which are now proudly on display in our classroom. Senior infants were super at teaching their new junior infant friends the colours "as Gaeilge" too!
