Well done to our two Senior Infant "Star Writers" this week. Fantastic handwriting. We have been focusing on finger spaces and full stops recently.
We released our beautiful painted lady butterflies in our school garden this morning. It was fascinating to watch them fly away having patiently observed each stage of their lifecycle. This was such a great learning experience for all the children in the class observing the tiny caterpillars growing and doubling in size, to cocooning into chrysalides and then hatching into butterflies.
"Silly Billy" is a book by Anthony Brown. It is the story of boy called Billy who is a bit of a worrier. He worries about all sorts of things. His mum and dad try to help, but still Billy worries...until a visit to his grandma's shows him how to overcome his fears with the aid of his imagination - and some tiny worry dolls. In class we made our very own worry dolls that we can share our worries with. Children put such great effort into decorating their dolls and were excited to bring them home to show their Mums and Dads..
Since our return to school in March, we have really enjoyed taking our Aistear groups outside. Check out some snaps below of pupils engaging with the sand table, "construction theme", trains, farm and dinosaurs taken over the last few weeks.
A big thank you to Nicola Walsh from the RSA, for a giving a short talk to Junior and Senior Infant pupils on the importance of road safety.
