Some snaps of our "Spooktacular Infants". School was lots of fun being all dressed-up! A huge thank you to all the parents who put so much effort into the fantastic costumes too. We enjoyed a "Spooks Parade" in the yard showing off our great costumes to all the other boys and girls in the school followed by a mini disco. Many thanks to our Parents Council for making goodie bags for everyone to mark the occasion. Junior Infants Senior Infants
Congratulations to our super "Star Writers" for September and October! Well done on all your fantastic work. Our Junior Infant pupils have been working very hard developing their pre-writing skills recently.
Over the past few weeks we have been collecting lots of leaves, acorns, pine cones, berries and conkers. We decided it would be nice to sprinkle them all over our school grounds so all the animals getting ready to hibernate for the winter can collect some food before they take their big winters nap. We also checked out our school wild garden along the way.
In our SESE lessons we have been learning all about Halloween and old traditions. On Thursday children were invited to taste a "Bairín Breac." In our oral language lessons we have been focusing on Halloween themed vocabulary and enjoyed playing "Go Fish" with our Halloween matching cards.
Our junior and senior infants buddied up to play some fun counting games from Topmarks on the ipads. Topmarks have lots of fun games to play at home too. Here's the link: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/teddy-numbers
With the storm outside we decided to do some indoor PE. We had some great fun stretching and balancing to the "Spooky Spectacular: Cosmic Yoga".
We partnered up with pupils from Mrs Light's 3rd and 4th class to play some really fun maths games. Children were delighted to receive a "Maths Monster" for their great participation in the games.
We had a very special visit by "Thunder" and "Bolt", a falcon and hawk. A big thank you to Gareth Pettigrew for making this happen and sharing fascinating facts about these birds with the boys and girls.
Our nature table is full with fabulous acorns, conkers, pine cones, berries and leaves to name but a few. Many thanks to all the children who brought them in. It really brings our autumn display to life. Check out some snaps of the lego print pumpkins the boys and girls made.
